Step into the world of Ancient Greece (and get ready for the 2026 Winter Olympics!)
This unit takes kids back thousands of years to explore one of the most influential civilizations in history. Learners will discover Greek city-states, daily life, brave warriors, famous myths, and the ideas that shaped art, science, math, government, and storytelling. From building an edible Parthenon to hosting their own Olympic Games, your kids will experience Ancient Greece through hands-on, creative projects.
Your kids will explore history, geography, and culture through activities like:
- Learn what a Greek city-state was and what made Athens and Sparta different
- Discover what daily life looked like for families in Ancient Greece
- Meet Greek warriors and explore the tools and training they used
- Dip your toes into Greek mythology and learn about gods, heroes, and legendary creatures
- Learn about Greek root words and how they influence English
- Host your own Olympic Games with simple kid-friendly events
- Build an edible model of the Parthenon
- Create Greek-inspired art such as pottery designs and Greek portrait
- Explore how Greek ideas shaped math, science, language, and government
- Follow the story of Ancient Greece through maps, legends, and hands-on play
- And more!
Whether they’re building models, reading a legendary myth, or creating Greek art, your learners will connect with ancient history in a fun and meaningful way.
This unit study includes 25+ activities, organized into eight easy-to-follow, open-and-go lessons. Schoolhouse Discoveries hands-on unit studies are designed for homeschool families and can serve as a core Social Studies curriculum for grades K–4 or a supplement for 5–6th grade. Each unit also weaves in Language Arts, Math, Art, STEM, Sensory Play, Cooking, Health, and Movement.
By using multiple themed kits throughout the year, families can build a complete, well-rounded curriculum rooted in hands-on, family-style learning.
Have more than one child participating?
Sibling Add-Ons are available when you order your kit. Add one for each additional child to receive another set of printed activity pages and extra supplies (not a full duplicate kit). It’s the easiest way to get everyone learning and creating together—without doubling your prep.
Perfect for homeschoolers, co-ops, or those using charter school funds or educational scholarships.
Note to Parents and Teachers: Ancient Greek art and mythology commonly reflected the culture’s religious beliefs and also the extremities of their experience, including war. Because of this, nudity and violence often appear in paintings, sculpture, and literature of the era.
We have considered the age and child development stages for the audience of this unit study and have taken careful measures in deciding what images to include in the lessons and supplemental content. And though our team has carefully weighed the educational and historical value of the information, some material of a sensitive nature remains. We suggest that your family discuss and decide what content you will explore, and we advise adult supervision and discretion in viewing linked resources, and especially in finding further supplemental materials for this unit study.

Learning Tips
Learning Tips
We’ve divided the learning experiences into eight sections, and we recommend doing the activities in the order suggested as some build upon the next. However, you don’t need to complete all the lesson activities at once if that’s too much for your schedule. Just pause and pick up where you left off next time. Doing these activities two days a week will take four weeks to complete the unit. The activities in this kit were designed for K to 4th graders. But we know kids are at all different levels and interests, so feel free to skip or add-to an activity if it isn’t right for your child(ren). That’s what Schoolhouse Discoveries are all about - having fun learning and finding ways that best fit your needs.
