Advanced Adventures can be used as a stand-alone curriculum or a complement to our existing K-4th grade unit studies for kids who love hands-on learning but are ready for a little “more.”

{Advanced Adventures} Exploring Antarctica comes with lesson plans, printed worksheets, a book (Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World by Jennifer Armstrong), activity instructions, and supplies.

During this Advanced Adventure, learners will join the crew of Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton as they read The Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World and discover one of history’s most incredible stories of survival and endurance.

They’ll also create their own board game, research Antarctic animals, make delicious recipes based on the book, conduct science experiments, learn what it means to endure, and much more!

We’ve divided the learning experiences into four sections, and we recommend doing the activities in the order suggested as some build upon the next. However, you don’t need to complete all the lesson activities at once if that’s too much for your schedule. Just pause, and pick up where you left off next time. Doing these activities two days a week will take four weeks to complete the unit.
