AA Early American Settlers
AA Early American Settlers
During the Early American Settlers Advanced Adventure, learners will read excerpts from William Bradford’s journal and a historical fiction dairy about a girl in the Jamestown Settlement. Then they’ll compare and contrast the experiences of the Plymouth Pilgrims to the Settlers of Jamestown. They’ll also bake May”flour” biscuits, practice cursive writing with a quill pen, create art with herbal tea paint, tie mariner’s knots, and much more!

What's inside each kit?
Advanced Adventure unit study kits are designed to provide an independent multi-subject themed learning experience for 5th to 8th graders.
Learners who use these unit study lessons usually take 3-6 weeks to complete each box.
Advanced Adventures by Schoolhouse Discoveries can be used as a stand-alone curriculum or complement our existing K-4th grade unit studies for kids who love hands-on learning but are ready for a little “more.”
Inside each kit you’ll find:
- themed book
- full-color learning guide
- printed activity pages
- QR code with videos and digital access to activity pages
- some of the art/craft/sensory supplies needed to complete the 12+ activities and lessons in each theme.
Learning Tips
Learning Tips
We’ve divided the learning experiences into four sections, and we recommend doing the activities in the order suggested as some build upon the next. However, you don’t need to complete all the lesson activities at once if that’s too much for your schedule. Just pause, and pick up where you left off next time. Doing these activities two days a week will take four weeks to complete the unit.
